At Femi Adesina’s Book, President Tinubu Speaks on Buhari

President Bola Tinubu has used the occasion of the launch of the book by former presidential spokesperson, Femi Adesina to speak about how he has related with former President, Muhammadu Buhari since he vacated power.

Speaking in his remarks during the launch of the book, ‘Working with Buhari: Reflections of a Special Adviser, Media, and Publicity (2015-2023)’, authored by ex-presidential spokesman, Femi Adesina held at the Transcorp Hilton, Abuja on Tuesday, President Tinubu said he has not felt any pinch of pressure from his predecessor.

Specifically, he said that ex-President Muhammadu Buhari has not interfered with any of his decision-making, not even in the composition of his cabinet.

Tinubu said after handing over power to him as President, Buhari said, ‘I will be far away in Daura but if you need me, contact me,” adding that the ex-President promised that he would not intrude in whatever he would be doing, which he has religiously kept to.

The Book, Working with Buhari, authored by Senior Special Adviser to President Buhari on Media and Publicity, Femi Adesina

“Except when I call him on the phone to say, ‘Are you living, are you going to the farm’, you don’t hear from Buhari either to nominate or intrude in the cabinet or complain about issues. Thank you for being who you are.”

Buhari, in his response said the book launch event today is a way of accounting for their two terms in office, commending the author and his team for ensuring that this history is recorded for now and the future.

“Government is a continuum. It is like a relay race. You run your course, and hand over the baton to the next person. This we have done. We kept records of our stewardship, knowing that we would always be required to account for the trust entrusted to us,” Buhari said.

Speaking further in the importance of documentations as done by his ex-spokesman, Buhari said, ”Human beings often have short memories, and unless events are recorded in cold print, some people would come and attempt to either distort, or even obliterate recent history. But the fact in our favour is that nothing was done under the veil of secrecy. We were as transparent and accountable as possible, being aware of the fact that posterity was the ultimate judge.”

He said that government of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s has his support and confidence, especially in the quest to have dream country for Nigerians at all levels where there is emancipation for the teeming population.

“With the cumulative achievements of government after government, I believe we will get there in no distant time,” Buhari said.
