Thousands receive credit alerts from FG’s grants scheme

Kogi State was thrown into a jubilant frenzy on Tuesday as the Federal Government launched one of the numerous social intervention programmes, ‘Renewed Hope Grants for the poor and vulnerable persons’-with thousands of beneficiaries receiving instant credit alerts.
Nigeria’s Minister of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Alleviation, Dr Betta Edu who performed the flag-off exercise in Lokoja, the state capital, stated that, President Tinubu government is determined to reach out to the poorest of the poor and the vulnerable in the society.
The Minister said the premium interest that Mr. President places on women inclusion is reflected in the fact that over seventy percent of beneficiaries of the grant across the twenty one local government areas of the state are women with only fifteen percent each allotted to Persons With Disabilities and Senior Citizens, reiterating that the administration of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu is for all the citizens across party lines.
Dr Edu explained that the intervention programmes are designed to lift over 50 million Nigerians out of poverty in a space of 42 months. Saying the Grants for Vulnerable Groups Scheme, is designed to provide a one-off cash grant of twenty thousand naira (20,000) to the poorest of the poor and most vulnerable nigerians at the bottom pyramid to improve their livelihood, support their small scale petty trading and take care of their families.
The Minister who advised the beneficiaries not to take the opportunity for granted, also warned the beneficiaries and the general public to beware of scammers who parade themselves with fake interventions, saying the ministry has never ask anyone to pay money to register before they can access any of the programmes.
Speaking at the occasion, the Governor of Kogi State, Dr Yahaya Bello, who described the Hon Minister, Dr Betta Edu as one of the good products of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, said “Renewed Hope” is in Kogi State.
The Governor assured the federal government of his support to ensure the program become a testimony in Kogi State. He thanked Mr President for his kind gesture and maintained that the people of Kogi State are happy and proud of the Renewed Hope Agenda of Mr President which has become a reality in their domain.
Reacting, some of the beneficiaries particularly the ones that received their credit alerts both inside and outside the hall, echoed…. Hope Renewed, promise made, promise kept, signifying satisfaction and fulfilment.
