Controller General of Nigeria Immgration Service (NIS), Caroline Wura-Ola Adepoju has called for private sector support in the provision of operational infrastruture to enhance efficiency in the processing and production of International passports and other travel documents.
The CG in a briefing with reporters in her office on Monday said such support could come in the form of provision of work tools, equipment and structures in the passport office, which according to her would go a long way in addressing the challenge of inadequate facilities confronting the border control and management of the agency.
Adding, she said interventions in facility provision by corporate organizations will go a long way in addressing the problem of long serving processing of passport especially at a time travel documents has come under increasing demand on account of Nigerians either relocating overseas for studies, business or for greener pastures.
The NIS Boss said such unprecedented demand for International passports puts the system under tensed pressure, including pressure on the internet bandwidth causing backend glitches and epileptic power supply.
