The ministry of Interior has confirmed the retirement of Mr. Afonja Ajibola Fatai and Mr Peter Onoja from service after a meritorious service to the nation for thirty five (35) years. Until their retirement, Mr Afonja was a Deputy Director Press & Public Relations and Mr. Peter Onoja, Director Human Resources Management.
In line with civil service rules, the two Directors are retiring after clocking sixty years of age and thirty five years of service respectively, which is the mandatory retirement conditions civil service rules.
Speaking, the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry Dr. Aishatu Ndayako, who on Friday, organiszed a sent forth party for the Retired Directors, admonished the ‘Senior Citizens’ to engage themselves in active activities in other to be physically and mentally sound to face societal life after retirement with sound abilities.
The Permanent Secretary urged the retirees to get back to their respective communities and engage in legitimate ventures to give back to the society positively.
Dr.Ndayako stated that while in service, civil servants spent eighty percent of their time in office, adding that “but now you have time to look after yourselves.
She maintained that the valedictory session for the Directors, though sizable, is a confirmation of a meritorious and a successful service to their mother land. Adding that the gesture is to appreciate them for their contribution to the Ministry.
The duo where showed with material gifts by the ministry through the Perm Sec, ranging from TV plasma of various inches and colours.
Reacting, the Retirees appreciated the Minister, the Perm Sec, the Directors and the entire staff of the Ministry for their support and love throughout their time at the Ministry.
