In a move to tame youth unemployment and bolster development across Nigeria, Junior Chambers International (JCI), a non-profit and non-governmental international organization has urged youths in Nigeria to make the best of skills acquisition programmes to enhance their employability and entrepreneurial capabilities.
The call which came from various officials of the body during its conference held in Uyo, the Akwa Ibom state capital, stressed the need for Nigerian youths to evolve and become more creative, in order to equip themselves with the skills necessary to thrive in today’s dynamic job market.
Speaking during the conference, President of the JCI, Nigeria, Sandra Efemuaye, and Vice President of the JCI, South- South, Elochukwu Umeohana, said by harnessing the potential of its youth population, Nigeria stands to benefit from increased productivity, innovation, and economic diversification.
Rosemary Mothusi, Vice President of JCI, encouraged young people to remain resilient in tackling challenges, emphasizing that these issues are not unique to Nigeria alone.
As Nigeria continues on its path towards economic recovery and sustainable development, the prioritization of youth employment and skill acquisition remain paramount.
