Uwa Takes Over as 3rd Commander of 6 Brigade

Brigadier General Kingsley Uwa has officially assumed command as the 3rd Commander of 6 Brigade of the Nigerian Army in Jalingo, Taraba State.

He officially took over after a formal ceremony held on Wednesday 24 January 2024, during which his predecessor Major General Frank Etim, formerly handed over to him.

In his inaugural address, Uwa commended his predecessor for his purposeful leadership and for ensuring peace and stability in the Brigade, promising to sustain and build upon the legacies.

Similarly, Uwa urged commanders and troops of the Brigade to brace up for the enormous task ahead, adding that under his watch they would not relent on their oars until all criminal elements within the state had been flushed out from their enclaves and forced to embrace peace.

The new commander also highlighted the need to maintain the Brigade’s high standard of discipline and professionalism while fostering innovation and teamwork.

Speaking earlier, the Outgoing Commander who was recently promoted to the rank of Major General thanked the Chief of Army Staff for the opportunity given to serve the nation in such capacity. 

General Etim expressed confidence in his successor to consolidate on his achievements in dealing with threat to security of the state.  “I know you will succeed especially with your depth of experience.” he averred. He further urged  officers and soldiers to extend the cooperation and support he enjoyed to the new commander.

Highpoint of the event was signing the handing and taking over notes, presentation of 6 Brigade flag to the incoming Commander and lowering and hoisting of flag.
