President Bola Tinubu has sworn in three newly appointed ministers inside the Council Chambers of the State House, Abuja.
The inauguration brings to 48, the number of ministers appointed in President Tinubu-led administration.
Those sworn in include Jamila Ibrahim-Bio Jummai; Balarabe Abbas Lawal; and Ayodele Olawande, who were recently screened and endorsed by the Senate.
The brief swearing-in ceremony was held on Monday ahead of the Federal Executive Council (FEC) meeting.
Recall that on September 17, 2023, President Tinubu nominated Ibrahim and Olawande as Minister of Youth and Minister of State for Youth, respectively.
Lawal, a ministerial nominee from Kaduna State was also screened and confirmed by the Senate.
He served as Secretary to the Government under former Governor Nasir El-Rufai, just as he replaced El-Rufai, whose confirmation was rejected by the senate.
Lawal is the new Minister of Environment.
Part of the dignitaries that witnessed the swearing-in ceremony are Speaker of the House of Representatives, Hon Tajudeen Abbas; Governor Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq of Kwara; and Governor Uba Sani of Kaduna.
Immediately after the swearing-in ceremony, President Tinubu presided over the FEC.
This is the second time that President Tinubu is presiding over the FEC meeting since his inauguration on May 29 as the 16th President of Nigeria.
The council observed a minute of silence to mourn a former Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Mobolaji Ajose-Adeogun, who died recently at the age of 96.
Ajose-Adeogun was appointed the Minister of Federal Capital in 1976 during the Murtala Mohammed’s military regime, a position that he served till 1979.
The Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), Senator George Akume; Chief of Staff to the President, Hon Femi Gbajabiamila; Head of the Civil Service of the Federation, Dr Folasade Yemi-Esan; and National Security Adviser (NSA), Mallam Nuhu Ribadu, were some of the cabinet members at the meeting.
