Governor of Benue State, Hyacinth Alia has been awarded an Honorary Doctorate Degree by the prestigious Ernest Bai Koroma University of Science and Technology, Sierra Leone.
In a ceremony held at the weekend in Sierra Leone, the Governor was so decorated in acknowledgement of his outstanding performance within only seven months of being on the saddle.
Announcing this on his verified personal X account,@Alialization the governor wrote, “I am delighted to announce that today (Saturday), the Ernest Bai Koroma University of Science and Technology, Sierra Leone, found me worthy of an Honorary Doctorate Degree. I extend my appreciation to the entire leadership and staff of the Ernest Bai Koroma University of Science and Technology, Sierra Leone.”

“The recognition from an esteemed institution like Ernest Bai Koroma University reflects the wider recognition of his contributions to public service beyond the borders of Benue State and Nigeria as a whole,” the PSA stated.

Meanwhile, the governor used the occasion to attend Mass at Blessed Michael Tansi Quasi Parish, Goderich Barrack, Freetown, Sierra Leone on Sunday in celebration of the Patronal Feast Day, alongside His Grace, the Archbishop, Most Rev. Dr. Edward Tamba Charles, and the Grand Chief Patron, Mr. Sarjoh Aziz Kamara.
He was accompanied at the Mass by the Benue State Commissioner for Education and Knowledge Management, Rev. Pastor Frederick Ikyaan, former Nigerian Ambassador to Russia, Prof. Steve Davies Ugbah, Vice Chancellor of Benue State University, Prof. Joseph Tor Iorapuu, the Executive Chairman of Benue State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB), Dr. Grace Adagba, among others who were part of the trip.
