The pain of traveling on roads faced by motorists and commuters across Nigeria may soon be a thing of the past, as the Federal Government, through the ministry of works has received an express approval from the President, Bola Tinubu to commence immediate construction and repairs of the roads that are in bad shape.
Particularly of note is the section of the road that traverses Kogi State, north-central Nigeria which has been a lingering nightmare for travelers across north and southern part of the country.
Minister of Works, Engineer Dave Umahi, who disclosed when the Kogi State Governor, Yahaya Bello, and the state’s Governor-elect, Ahmed Usman Ododo, paid him a visit at his office in Abuja also outlined the modalities being explored to expedite the works without delay.
The minister revealed that ongoing projects, such as the Ganaja road rehabilitation, would be concrete-based, in alignment with the Federal Government’s policy to ensure durable roads in Nigeria.
During the visit, Governor Bello expressed gratitude to Senator Umahi for his support and solidarity, contributing to the victory of the Governor-elect in the November 11 governorship election in Kogi State.
In response, Umahi congratulated the Governor-elect, emphasizing that his victory reflected the people’s desire in Kogi State for continuity and consolidation. He commended Governor Bello’s achievements in road construction, education, health infrastructure, and other critical areas, expressing confidence that Ododo would build on these successes.
He urged the governor-elect to uphold the trust placed in him by the people and the party, ensuring the fulfillment of his campaign promises.
