Interior Minister holds demo session with stakeholders
Ahead of the official commencement of full automated processing of the Nigerian international passport, the Minister of Interior, Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo has held a demo session with key stakeholders and development partners, presenting the automated passport application process set to be launched on Monday, January 8, 2024.
Alongside the Comptroller General of the Nigeria Immigration Service, Mrs Caroline Wura-Ola Adepoju, the minister took time to listen to constructive criticism from the stakeholders, which he says would enhance and improve the system.
Notable participants at the session included, Hon. Abike Dabiri-Erewa, Chairman of Nigerians in Diaspora Commission (NIDCO), the International Organisation for Migration (IOM) represented by Stephen Matete,
Also present at the Demo session were Dr. Joe Abah, Country Manager at Development Alternatives Incorporated, Tijjani Mohammad Musa, Founder of Kwandala Foundation, David Afolayan, co-founder of Technext and Akintunde Babatunde, Director of Programmes at the Centre for Journalism Innovation and Development(CJID)
Others are Lanre Lasisi, Journalist and Community Development advocate, Samson Itodo, Founder of YIAGA Africa, Mukhtar Mudibbo representing Connected Development (CODE), among others.
Meanwhile, the minister has revealed that the upgrade in passport automated processing will be done in a carefully thought out phases, beginning with the launch on Monday. The coming months would see a remarkable improvement in the speed and quality of passport processing that would relieve Nigerians of the hardship faced in recent times.
