Nigeria to Deploy Smart Technologies in Correctional Facilities

The Federal Government of Nigeria is set to install smart technologies in the Correctional Facilities across the country, the Minister of Interior, Hon Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo has announced.

The move, which is aimed at providing additional layers of security to the country’s Correctional facilities comes on the heels of reports of jailbreaks across some of the centres, and earlier pledge by the minister that the facilities would be given comprehensive face-lift.

On Monday, the minister, in company of top management members of Nigeria Correctional Services hosted some experts who made presentations on how to deploy smart technologies.

Announcing this on his X-account, the minister said, “This afternoon, I hosted a team of experts to discuss how the government can adapt smart technology towards upgrading correctional facilities across the country.”

The minister has led a number of reforms targeted at improving services offered by the NCoS since he assumed office in August.
