FCTA Pulls Down Shanties in Abuja Suburb

The Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA) has demolished shanties at Kabusa junction in Dutse District area of Abuja.
Director, Department of Development Control, Abuja Metropolitan Management Council (AMMC) Mr Mukhtar Galadima, who led the operation on Monday, revealed that the essence of the demolition was to sanitise the area.
He hinted that the demolition was in line with the directives of the Minister of FCT, Mr Nyesom Wike, that illegal structures, particularly shanties should be eradicated in the city.
Galadima informed that areas overtaken by shanties were meant for an overhead bridge that would connect ring road two and the outer southern expressway.
“We are starting from this point to Galadima roundabout. When we chase away illegal occupants in the area, we will come up with a plan that will accommodate all the traders in an organised manner.
“Kabusa is constituting an eye sore for people coming into the city because of the shanties that occupied most parts of the junction.” he added.
Galadima insisted that illegal structures in the area must be demolished for genuine infrastructure development.
