The Controller, Nigeria Customs(NCS) Federal Operations unit (FOU) ” Zone B”, Kaduna, Mr Chedi Wada, has lamented that smugglers have been using Fake Presidential number Plates to deliver vichcles across the country.
According to Wada, they have also been dubiously using Fake number Plates belonging to State and LGA Governments, Emirate Councils, MDAs, and other Governmental Institutions to perpetuate this evil act.
Mr Wada disclosed this to News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) Zonal Manager, Kaduna Zonal office Mr Bahir Rabe-Mani who paid him a courtesy visit in his office.
Mr Chedi assured that Customs will not relent in its efforts but will continue to do its best by not allowing smugglers use the old tactics of using fake Presidential number Plates and other Governmental Institutions to smuggle luxurious vichcles into the country.
Speaking further, Chedi lamented how sadening smugglers are rediculing the apex seat in the country by using Presidential fake number Plates on newly snuggled cars to deceive customs.
Mr Chedi said, Customs are well trained Personnel who can easily identify fake number Plates and cannot be played by the old trics.
The Controller disclosed that the service is not happy with such heinous acts and should be totally discouraged.
He urged the public and the media to be customs friendly by reporting to the Customs any onybody engaged in such naferous activities irrespective of the personality involved.
The Controller who said the service was saddled with the responsibility of suppressing Snuggling activities, Revenue generation activities, revenue and trade facilitation and implementation of other Government policies said the media has been their worthy ally in the fight against Snuggling activities in the region.
