The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) have graduated the second batch of its Mining Marshal, a special unit created to add value to Nigeria’s effort to legalize in-country mining activities.
The official passing out parade of the mining Marshal was held in Friday June 14 at the headquarters of NSCDC.
This is sequel to the remarkable success of the first batch, which significantly reduced vandalism incidents across mining sites which has boosted revenue in the mining sector.
Nigeria’s Minister of Interior, Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo who witnessed the PoP said the initiative has continued to record success in the country’s bid to secure all mining sites, adding that it has further highlighted the power of collaboration and inter-agency cooperation.
“This development is made possible through the strategic collaboration between the Ministry of Interior and the Ministry of Solid Minerals Development led by Dr. Dele Alake,” Tunji-Ojo stated.
Continuing in a post on his X account, the Minister said, “Through the NSCDC, as an agency mandated to protect critical national assets and infrastructure, we shall work towards deploying this collaborative strategy to other sectors of the economy including Power, Oil and Gas, Telecommunications, Agriculture amongst others.”
“As our national anthem aptly puts it, our vision on national security remains steadfast: To hand on to our children a banner without stain,” the Minister stated.
