The controversial Nigerian singer, Azeez Fashola aka Naira Marley has opened up on the circumstances surrounding the death of Ilerioluwa Aloba, popularly known as Mohbad.
This comes as the embattled singer was arrested yesterday as revealed by the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Benjamin Hundeyin on Tuesday night through his verified Twitter handle@BenHundeyin.
Hundeyin noted that Naira Marley is currently assisting with the ongoing investigation into the death of the 27-year-old ex-signee of Marlian Records Label.
“Naira Marley has been taken into custody for interrogation and other investigation activities,” Hundeyin said.
Recall that Mohbad died on September 12 in a controversial manner and was buried on September 13, but his remains was later exhumed on September 21 for autopsy.
He was married and had a son.
But Naira marley posted his arrest by the police on his official “X” account, formerly twitter, just as he restricted public comment on his post.
It reads: “I’d like to share that I’ve just arrived back in Lagos, Nigeria to assist the authorities with the ongoing investigation. It’s important I do my part for Imole. I’ll be meeting with the police with hopes for the truth to be uncovered and for justice to prevail”.
Marley had sought for a thorough investigation into the death of Mohbad and promised to assist with uncovering any foul play or injustice, according to a post on his Twitter handle.
Why The Suspicion
A music promoter and popular socialite, Balogun Eletu, aka Sam Larry and Naira Marley have been accused of having a hand in the death of Mohbad.
This followed the release of a video of Larry and his men disrupting Mohbad’s video shoot with Zlatan Ibile on social media.
It was also alleged that the socialite and his men subjected Mohbad to constant bullying and threats after he left the Marlian Records label in 2022.
But in a trending video on social media, Sam Larry denied his involvement in the death of Mohbad, who he described as his brother.
“Mohbad is my brother. When he was signed to Marlian Records, he knew I loved him so much. Even his wife and everyone else know that I love Mohbad,” he added.
Since then, the hashtag #justiceformohbad has been trending on Twitter, with thousands of fans demanding for justice and prosecution of persons behind the untimely death.
Recall that Sam Larry was also arrested on Friday, September 29, 2023.
