Nigeria’s Minister of Interior, Hon Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo on Tuesday performed the ceremonial groundbreaking for the remodelling and upgrading of the National Fire Academy at Sheda in Abuja.
The Minister who was accompanied by top management of the Ministry as well as heads of agencies including the Nigerian Correctional Service (NCoS), National Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Federal Fire Service (FFS), and the Nigeria Immigration Service said this is a major step towards the ministry’s ambition to revolutionize the Federal Fire Service, as well as efforts towards the repeal of the Fire Service Act of 1963, and the enactment of a Fire and Rescue Service Act that addresses the challenges of our contemporary world.
Speaking on an optimistic note, the Minister stated that, “With the support of President Bola Tinubu, we are building a legacy where our Fire Service can thrive as a regulator, operator and enumerator where the private sector can play an active role in driving innovation, job creation, and excellence in the industry.”
