The Federal Government has through the Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Alleviation commenced payment of N-Power beneficiaries across the country.
Already, over 400,000 beneficiaries who have successfully been verified have confirmed receipt of their payments.
In a statement credited to the Minister of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Alleviation, Dr Beta Edu, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu on Wednesday night, directed the commencement of the payment of the backlog of stipends owed Nigerians with immediate effect.
Recall that for over a year, the federal government stopped the payment of beneficiaries due to lack of transparency and accountability.
Prior to this time, a rigorous verification exercise was painstakingly initiated and concluded by the Federal Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Alleviation.
To kick start the payment process, the Minister Announced the release of funds Wednesday night saying, it was indeed a renewed hope for the Nigerian youths and vulnerable Nigerians for the Christmas and New Year festivities.
The Minister pointed out that President Tinubu’s interest in Nigerian youths was evidenced by the numerous policies and programmes of his administration largely tailored toward providing opportunities for them.
Her statement partly reads “I stayed awake with the NPOWER team till 3 am at the office to ensure NPOWER beneficiaries get paid before Christmas in line with the directive of the President, adding that
“Now, I can confirm to you the payment of N-POWER beneficiaries has commenced and the evidence is in their bank accounts”, the Minister said.
She wishes the beneficiaries who have long been waiting in expectation a Merry Christmas and a prosperous New Year with their loved ones.
