Unknown gunmen suspected to be bandits have abducted five female students of the Federal University Dutsinma (FUDMA) in Katsina State.
The incident occured at about 2:30 am on Wednesday.
A source, who spoke on condition of anonymity disclosed that the students were kidnapped from their residence located behind Mariamoh Ajiri Memorial International School, along Tsaskiya.
He noted that the bandits were carrying dangerous weapons before they forcefully abducted the students.
The state Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) ASP Abubakar Aliyu confirmed the incident.
He said that the terrorists invaded the residence of the students behind Mariamoh Ajiri Memorial School, Dutsinma.
Aliyu noted that the police have arrested one person suspected to be supplying information to the terrorists that abducted the students.
The spokesman said that efforts are on to rescue the students unhurt.
